The Gathering of Mustangs and Legends 2007

Postby Kaworu » Wed Sep 26, 2007 6:48 pm

Hello everybody. I'm sure a few of you have heard about GML. It's gonna be quite awesome and it may well be the last time so many WWII pilots are gathered in one place.

The thing I'm proud of, is that it was supposed to happen in Colorado! Fortunately, local business people (primarily the CEO of Scots Fertilizer, who is actually a participant in the airshow) helped convince the organizers to move it to Rickenbacker International Airport. The airport is MASSIVE, so it's a good choice in my eyes.  :)

I jumping out of my pants with excitement!  :D

Is anybody going? I am probably going to take pictures (don't expect much, I'm not a photographer by nature ;)). Once again, here is the website.

Massive is right... I've done a touch-n-go.. and touch-n-go.. without a single heading change at KLCK   :D

There are many interesting planes to see, on any given day... KC-135s come and go regularly...

I'll be there  :)

I can't make it to this one...  :'(

But I will probably do the next-best thing the same weekend: fly the Champ up to Chino and back to check out the Planes of Fame museum.

Ouch >:( Sorry about the luck.

I've got a box right below the main stands, though. I'm sharing it with a few friends and my family. It should be a blast!

If Rotty was on the Right Coast instead of the Left Coast I was going to ask him if he would want to take a ride out but, that's not happening!!

Won't be going!!  :'(

Oh, how I wish I could be there!  I was graced by the beautiful noise of a Merlin as "Hell 'er Bust" departed for the show yesterday morning.  Man that's a gorgeous Mustang!  Absolute mirror finish on that aluminum.
The day is always better when you're flying upside down.

as of thursday night, from what i hear....this is whats there

just about 60 Mustangs

my buddy gave me this info (he's there)
1 P-63 Kingcobra
2 B-25
1 B17
1 P-40
1 Avro Lancaster
2 P-38
1 B-52
1 KC-135R
2 A-10's
1 F-16 on static display
1 C-5A
1 C-17
1 C-130
1 T-6 Texan II
The Thunderbirds arrived today, I feel sorry for all the Mustangs forced to orbit elseware while the thunderchickens had controll of the airfield
The F-15, F-16, and F-22 demonstration teams are there. Don't ask me why we have a F-16 demonstration team since the last time I checked thats what the Thunder birds were for.
I'm sure there are some I forgot but it was a busy night getting things in place.
I hear that there are some more P-38's and another B-25 and B-17 coming but I cannot confirm that.

In that case, why should the RAF have a Hawk display, after all, the Red Arrows use it. :P ;)

Wow wish I was there! I might be able to get a ride up there on Sunday...
The F-16 demonstration is more of a single tatical manuvers demonstration, the Thunderbirds are the
Air Force display team. ;)

I will be there on Sunday. Going to be an awesome show. It'll be cool to see that many pilots and mustangs in one place.

I will be getting a large number of photos for you guys very soon. Some of them are mine, others were taken by the same guy who got me free box seats ( ;D ;D ;D). I'll get 'em to ya ASAP.

The show was amazing today (Sunday). Between the air displays and statics, I was blown away. Simply awesome. I especially liked the squadron flights at the end. Amazing hearing 20 Merlins growling all at once. The AF Heritage flight was also well done.
