Dear friends,
Can anyone of you enlighten me, please...
Where are the forward/downward camera that send outside picture to passenger's PTV located?
I experienced to have T/O and landing view from my seat on EK B777-300ER, and couple years ago with an Swiss A340-300
Thanks.

They're normally placed on the leg of the nose gear.

Hi Spitfire,
Thanks....
BTW, if it is placed on nose-gear leg, how can it still send the outside view to the PTV during cruising, as during cruising the door of nose gear bay is closed, rite?

It could probably be on the Nose of the plane, as well. That's where I always thought those cameras were.

I'm not sure they do send the view to the PTV during cruising; I've been in the same situation as you describe, and I tried viewing the camera during cruising, and I seem to remember it didn't work.
It could be there's a camera near the front of the 'belly fairing' but I'm not certain.

There is a camera located just forward of the cargo bay.... the normal use is for ground handling. I suspect that gives you the forward/down view during flight. There are also two cameras located in the leading edges of the horizontal stablisers ... once again for ground handling purposes.

I learned that there is a camera system - GMCS (Ground Manouvre Camera System) in B-777 Series for the use of flight-deck crew on comfort ground handling. Most probably it is the same with what Eno said.
But, I am still curious there is another set of camera for "entertainment" perusal, as during taxi, I did not see the nose gear, while the downward camera shown the yellow center line (then it must be located ahead of nose gear - but where? .

Also to confirm engine problems such as fire.

I assume not all 777s are so equipped (at least to allow passenger viewing)? I've flown 4 times on 777s (same airline, same route, probably same plane) and never saw the camera. And I was bored and went through ALL the menus. :)
