Sukhoi Superjet is due to roll out on 26th of September:

The launch customer is Aeroflot. But there is at least one export customer Itali Airlines.

In the original schedule, yes; it was supposed to fly in August (although Boeing have all but admitted it won't).

With these glorious roll-outs/unveilings, I wondering if there's any correlation between the "impressiveness" of the name, and the overhype the type receives; this "Superjet" (does it go round saving the world?), Boeing's "Dreamliner" (blimey, I can't sleep in any airliner, so I won't be dreaming! ), and Airbus' "A3XX" (come on, who couldn't work out it was always going to be the A380...).

I think the quote was "It'll fly when it's ready", and rightly so.

In the news today, it was announced that it would not fly until October at the earliest.

Does Superjet compete with 737?

Not if those two examples are to go by. It's the Regional jet market if thats the case, smaller city airports with short runways.

What precisely has Sukhoi promised to Boeing?

Its more like What did Boeing promise to Sukhoi.

Basically the deal is that Sukhoi wont go in the 737 market, and in return Boeing does the marketing stuff for them.

This saves Sukhoi a load of image-building money, and Boeing gets their RJ whitout having to start from scratch

There is talk of SSJ-130.
