Hi all

I just wanna share some pics of the reborn of one of the biggest legend of the German WW2 planes, the fieseler Fi-156C Storch, is back as a LSA (Light Sport Aircraft) for EEUU or VLA (Very Light Aircraft) for europe.

The plane has received already visits from the FAA and LAMA with really great results, and one storch is now flying at the Miami Beaches, another is almost done and she

Very nice. There's a very nice Aussie 7/8ths one floating around too. Can't remember off hand what it's called though...

Looks like fun. Are they giving any away for free?  

Remember 10-15 years ago when Russia was selling new (Yak-3?) WWII fighters?

This babe is 100% Colombian  ;), i have see some pics of the australian one, but i preffer this one, is much more loyal to the real one, in this case i can't be impartial but for me this one is better  ;), for something is my plane  ;D

the fly in this bird is really awesome, specially when the plane is in stationary like a helicopter. The plane is really cheap, we almost can say than for that cost is free.

Cool, but I think I'd rather have the Piper Cub lookalike LSA.


It's funny you should post this, I actually have a question about these types of LSA, maybe someone here knows the answer:  Do you need a taildragger rating in addition to the LSA license to fly one?

The true is that i dont remember, but for russian planes i prefer the mig-3

After utilizing many different search terms, I finally found out it was the YAK-3M and the year was 1994. They were built with original dies and stamps and were fitted with surplus Allison V-1710 engines.

Several were made from conversions of Yak-11 trainers too...

There are less than 10 Original Yak-3s flying (only one with the original engine)
Rest is Yak-11 mods

Not as such - structural commonality exists between the Yak 3 and Yak 11 - the Yak 11 was based largely on the Yak 3 fighter. The "Tora Tora Tora" Zeros, Kates and Vals are just "artistic recreations"; replicas in the loosest term as they were based on cosmetic modification of totally unrelated aircraft types (the T-6/SNJ and the BT-13), reproductions they most certainly aren't, which is probably the best way to describe the new build Yak 3s.

The piper cub is a good plane, but very common, i prefers planes stranges like this one, also the storch is by far better than the cub.

Here in Colombia we need a special license for the ultralights category I (thats how we call the LSA here), for the category II (a plane like the storch), we need a normal pilot license.
