Weston Super Mare

Postby Mictheslik » Mon Jul 23, 2007 4:45 am

The Helicopter Museum are holding their annual helidays, starting on thursday and running all weekend...

It is basically a big helicopter fly in, and they all land on the beach lawns at Weston Super Mare (on the prom). There are also flying displays, with thursday being the pick of the bunch

"the Show will start on Thursday 26th July, with a full flying display over Weston Bay, including the Red Arrows, the RAF Falcons parachute Display team and a mix of historic and modern aviation delights."

Not too sure about the mix of historic and modern aviation delights  ::)

but the red arrows will be good....

Ill be there on Thursday :)

PS...the best thing is, thae flying displays are free...however to view the static aircraft there's a minimal fee....you can still watch them come and go though ;)

The only downside is that you have to go to Weston Super Mare. Went through there on a train once. Was on the verge of slitting my wrists there and then. ;D

I would have to agree, it is pretty crap, but sirely the displays make up for it?

OK...I'm back and the only word I can describe it as is wet....

Lots of cancellations, including Black cats, Sea Fury and Spit.....of course the falcons didnt do a jump...would have been amusing to see how far out the would have had to go to be blown in though ;)

The first half was hampered by gale force winds and rain....the reds put on the formation half of their flat disply before aborting due to the weather.....the RAF sea king put up a decent attempt at a beach rescue...after all it's designed for conditions like today ;)

In the afternoon the sun came out a bit for the German and Belgian sea kings, plus a German Lynx.....however the rain returned for the closing Hawk act and he aborted after half a display....

Pics to come...
