The 787 was lowered onto its own landing gear for the first time earlier this morning (June 25) and should be heading to paint about now.

Yay. This calls for a celebration. The bird is standing under it's own support now. ;D ;D

As you may know I am a huge fan of Boeing so this makes me happy. Also it makes me happy to see that Airbus is once again under heavy competition from Boeing. ;D

Judging by the number of orders Air Bus took last month, I would not hold your breath. Not only that, but Boeing have increased the prices of most of the aircraft they produce as of last month. That is hardly putting Air Bus under pressure.

Especially since the small Airbus are selling nicely as ever.

They've increased their prices because they are in high demand.

Sure, Airbus took a lot of orders at the Air Show (good for them), but remember a lot of them are massive widebody orders from the Gulf, which may or may not be fully filled before the capacity bubble pops over there.

As far as the A320 vs. 737 debate, Boeing has a 1500 frame backlog at the moment, and the 737RS will be in service in 2015.  I'd say Boeing is in pretty good shape.

Remember, this is a Boeing Fan talking so take it with a grain of salt.

meh,

it's like AMD vs Intel, ATI vs NVidia.....

rivalry is good.  it makes each competator work that much harder.

5200 737's delivered out of 6000 orders. Aircraft first flew in 1966

3000 A320's delivered out of 5000 orders. Aircraft first flew in1988

On the numbers, I would say that Air Bus is a nose ahead, but remember, this is a DC3 fan who likes to stir 8-)

It's done 8-)  Well okay, its not anywhere near done.  Structurally it's finished. It still needs to be painted, wired, and tested before it flies.

Early models of the 737 sold poorly so I don't see how you can compare that to the new 737NG which has a total of 3443 starting from 1993.. A320 has 5087 orders starting from
