Did anyone else see an article in the newspapers today about a new aircraft that Chinese have invented?  They say that it can travel at 300 and something miles per hour half a metre above the sea and is as safe as a boat but 5 or 6 times faster.  Is it me or does this sound rather similar to the Russian Ekranoplan (or as it is also known 'Caspian Sea Monster)? :-?

Well China has been known to steal tecnologies from other countries... i.e The Chinese J-7 fighter is almost an exact copy of the MiG-21F

Of course it is. The J-7 is a development of the MiG-21.

Most of the espionage going on the US for thet last decades have been done by the Chinese.

I wouldn't call it stealing - the Chinese and the Russians are allies (I believe) and they'll trade / sell aircraft with each other. It's like what us Brits did with the F-4 Phantom when we bought some - replaced the engine with Rolls-Royce Spey engines.

China and Russia were allies for a long time, but they got into a fight over i believe a few countrys that belonged at that time the USSR.

China definately didnt steal any technology's. Atleast no more then most western country's like the U.S and european countries do. And, China has enough resources in there own country to be able to develope new technology's. Especialy with the current economical pace it is at.

Quite. Actually I've heard they smuggled an F-16, Rafale, Gripen and prototype Eurofighter, and reverse engineered all three... The J-10 was the result...

J-10 is rumoured to descent from the IAI Lavi... They probably got a few drawings with one of their radar or helicopter deals.

And Ekranoplans arent that new... its just that the Russians have been the only nation operating them in the military. There are also a few civil models still in service in Siberia.

Well, then why do so many Chinese keep getting arrested in the US for trying to steal secrets?
