If any of you love general aviation news as much as I do, you know that Diamond, Piper, and Embraer have all been working on little bitty private jets known as VLJs. Diamond has a testbed already for its D-Jet - a single engined jet with the engine behind the fuselage much like in...well pretty much every fighter jet ever made (except the Me-262). Embraer is different in that it's more conventional, a small two engined jet called the Phenom. Piper...well...they basically took a mirage and took out the prop and put in a DC-10 style tail for the single jet engine.
Now everyones favorite safe plane company Cirrus has unveiled their ugly little jet.

BTW....
PiperJetD-Jet (click on 'More on the D-Jet' underneath the picture for...more on the D-Jet)Phenom (now that I look at it again, it looks a lot like a CJ1 or Mustang)

"My eyes! Ze goggles, zey do nothing!"
Ah well, as sad as it may seem, aircraft are not built for "aesthetics".

It's about as bad as the A380.

i think the cirrus looks ok... if I was paying for the fuel bill and the thing looks like a flying pig and gets GREAT fuel economy i doubt i would care what she looks like. ;D

When is Cessna going to come out with a VLJ? As far as aesthetics, Cirrus' actually looks pretty cool. The Piper Jet looks alright as well. The D-Jet has my vote for the ugliest. The operating cost would be the bottom line for me however.
Welcome to the new generation of doctor killers ladies and gentlemen.
Edit: Does anyone know if the Cessna Citation Mustang qualifies as a VLJ. I remember a debate about that not to long ago.

They don't look that bad! The PiperJet looks amazing, and the D-Jet looks like it could be a military trainer.
@KnuckleHead yes the Cessna Mustang is an VLJ

Have Cirrus sacked their stylist?
They probably never had one... the styling was done by the manging director's 5-year-old daughter, most likely!

I believe the Mustang is a VLJ although Cessna doesn't classify it as such. I read an article about it in Flying back in May.

Who the hell needs those?
Pompous beaurocrats who want to look important but can't afford a proper Bizjet, like a Lear or a Gulfstream.
