Replica Project

Avro Museum's Replica Arrow was inspired by the 1/8 scale movie models. During eight years of research a 1/5 scale flight test model was built and flown, the aircraft now being modelled in modern aeronautics computer software.

The Replica aircraft in based on construction of a (0.6) "2/3" scale, flying version of CF-105 MK 1 Avro Arrow under Canadian Recreational Aircraft Legislation. The aircraft was sized to conform with legislated gross weight and wing load limits while still accomodating a real pilot - at 2/3 scale its still the size of a modern day CF-18 fighter jet.

Volunteers have faithfully recreated the aerodynamic shape of the aircraft from original Avro technical reports. While the aircraft's outward appearance will be accurate, it will feature a totally new internal structure consistent with the composite materials being used.

Looks awesome! But Why not build a full size model? I'm sure there are some Canadian companies willing to give some financial support!

i dont think the FAA (whatever it is in Canada...CAA) would let it fly....too expensive......too big......Canadian companies give money...I doubt it!
