The local county council are trying to get flying at Kemble banned....please help out by signing the Petition HERE

For those that do not know, Kemble is home to various flying schools and most importantly Delta Jets, who maintain a variety of Vintage jets in its facilities there.....it also holds a very good airshow every year.

Please help to keep flying at Kemble...

Thanks

Signed.

To ex-pat.
Kemble Airfield will be served with an enforcement order to stop illegal flying. Cotswold District Council says many aircraft using Kemble Airfield are unauthorised and its planning committee voted to clamp down. Lee Paul, of Kemble Air Services, said they would seek compensation. Our existing rights of use are more than adequate and appropriate.

We've provided a range of proofs associated with historic activities taking place. The airfield's been there since 1938 and we're not anywhere near the level of activity then." This will affect all GA activity on site including my flying school. If this goes ahead then my flying lessons will stop and the flying schools will move elsewhere. It has been a dream of mine (i'm 16 at the moment) to be a pilot and fly for delta jets which are a aircraft company that operate vintage jets as a passion (it's not cheap).

This all started because of a family complaining about noise at the airfield, my point is why live there in the first place if you know there's an airfield there. ANOTHER POINT IS THAT WHEN I FLY IN THE GENERAL CIRCUIT THERE ARE MANY NOISE ABANDMENT AREAS OF VILLAGES THAT YOU CAN'T FLY OVER MAKING IT MORE COMPLICATED TO COMPLETE THE CIRCUIT.

SO PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION TO SAVE THIS WONDERFUL AIRFIELD AND THE SERVICES PROVIDED ON IT.

I believe the planning permission to do with the civilian operation of the field may have connections with the bases previous use as a maintenance unit, hence, technically use of the field for operations other than those directly related to such, is illegal. A load a b******s to be fair. What is even sadder, is that on of those leading the campaign to stop the flying there is a former RAF pilot himself. I shalln't share my opinions of him... :(

What really annoys me is that there has been flying there for a long time, and it hasn't gotten worse in the last few years....(like some commercial airports)....so why did the residents who complained move there in the first place?

because those residents got their house at a reduced value because of the location next to an airfield, now they are thinking they can get the airfield closed and sell up for a rather nice profit.
They have been trying to do the same with Middle Wallop for years, unfortunatly those idiots forget the only jobs going are those on the base. So no base, no jobs. ::)

I don't think that's strictly true. Certainly Kemble was busy throughout the 70s and very early 80s as home of the Red Arrows, but then they went up to Scampton. IIRC it really only became active again (with heavy noisy metal) in the mid to late 90s, with the number of aircraft and operators being based there increasing a lot (relatively).

Of course, it all boils down to pure NIMBYism.

The legal nit-picking is simply a diversion from the real aim: to grab the land. Behind this council resolution you will find some sort of real estate consortium; I can almost guarantee that.
Second most likely possibility: council members taking advantage of the "Chicken Little" factor to gain favor with local citizens.
