Just put on CNN.com a little over an hour ago.  A UTAir TU-134 tried landing in thick fog at Samara, wing hit the runway and the aircraft broke up.  7 dead 51 injured...plane only carrying 63 including the crew.  Seems like theres been a lot of Russian aircraft go down, especialy TU-134s and TU-154s, doesnt help their safety record any...even if it was pilot error :-/

Alas many of the Russian planes don't have the same kind of electronic wizardry that you find in newer Western planes. This can only lead to trouble :'(

And when they do, it does not seem to make much difference...................A 320 and a 310 last year. Not exactly lacking in the wonder of black magic boxes :'(

Just think of the weather conditions that they fly in though? For not having to much wizardry as Western jets they don't do a bad job, but just some times im affraid... sh*t happens...

Design is prone to deep stall, likes to drop its rear at low speeds... basically needs skilled pilot when something goes wrong on approach

And given that it's a 134A it doesnt have the engine power that the Tu-134A-3 has, so less breathing room
