Just a short one today...
I was out in the desert between Fernley (N58) and Hazen, NV today, shooting jackrabbits with a buddy. It was overcast, but not a heavy cover. We were walking along and I heard them coming. I turned and looked up to see...
Three F-18s came blasting out of the south at a high rate of speed, close on each other's heels and only about 300 to 500 feet AGL. They were so low, I could see the pilot of the second airplane turn his head and look at me. They came, they made a lot of noise and they disappeared into the desert to the north in just a few seconds. We were out there about another hour, but they never came back that way. No doubt they were from Fallon NAS, just up the road.
I saw the 'Birds practicing over KINS on my way home last Tuesday morning. Awesome...
About two weeks ago, a 727 in military paint went right over the dairy farm where I pick up my milk. It had the gear down and was setting up to land at Fallon, no doubt.
I go to Vegas tomorrow and will be watching the heavens on Sunday morn for more Real Aviation.
That is all...
