U.S Heli Crash Kills 13!

Postby Anark » Sat Jan 20, 2007 11:49 am

Sad news from Iraq.

The US military says one of its helicopters has come down north-east of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, killing all 13 people on-board.

The military did not say what caused the helicopter to crash.

The US has suffered several fatal helicopter crashes in Iraq since the invasion in 2003.

In December, four US troops were killed when the helicopter they were travelling in crashed in the restive Western Anbar province.

"A US forces helicopter went down north-east of Baghdad this afternoon. Emergency Coalition Forces responded and secured the scene," a military statement said, Reuters news agency reported.

"Thirteen passengers and crew members were aboard the aircraft and all were killed."

I don't know, I've fired probably 10,000 bullets in my lifetime and most of them more or less end up in the right place.

Sad news.  If I do end up getting into the flight training program in the air force, I definitely don't want to end up in choppers, those thing are just too damn dangerous.

Exactly, how many old timer chopper airshows do you see.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

They havn't been around long enough to be old timers yet surely?

They have been about for about 60 years, many an aircraft has ended up in a museum in half that time.

its the said truth of wars. the US has probably flown THOUSANDS of heli missions in this war and you only seem to hear about the few that went badly. Think of how many mechanics and matiance hours it takes to keep our war bird in flying condition, and one 9 mm bullet in the wrong spot can spell disaster for any aircraft... people seem to forget what war is......
