Very good quality footage. However, I doubt any of the four chaps around the first vehicle eliminated or the others killed in the video would consider it "great" (even though they probably were terrorists/insurgents).

To quote Col Tim Collins, on the even of the 2003 invasion,

"Wipe them out if that is what they choose, but if you are ferocious in battle remember to be magnanimous in victory"

:)

Put into context, that's a far better way to go than to have your head drilled into or to have your head carved off, which seems to be a preferred way the terrorists deal with their captives.  Context is a word often overlooked when people criticise events over there.

We had an AC-130 Gunship open fire on a target close to here one night during a firefight. I'll never forget the sound it made...

Good intel, good shooting, and some fine flying there... watching this it's easy to forget this is a huge multi turboprop, not a helicopter...  8-)

Indeed, I could agree with you more there. I wasn't criticising events over there at all (if you knew my prefession, which a few forum members do, you would understand that I wouldn't), and this video is a very good example of a military team doing there job exactly as trained. I was merely questioning whether one really would want to label a video which clearly shows anyone's life being taken (whoever it is), as "great". They are all human.

For instance, Saddam Hussein. One of the most evil men the world has seen in recent history. He deserved his punishment, despite what some anti-capital punishment government (shame on certain members of the UK government for not respecting the Iraqi justice system and their freedom of choice to choose the punishment), yet I would not describe any video of his exectution as being "great".

I'm impressed by the professionalism the soldiers display.  Actually I've been watching a lot of Iraq conflict stuff on TV and am continually impressed by that same professionalism.  It's a morbid job and war is ugly, but there are heros out there...

Quite, and they have to do that in whatever situation they are in. There is a lot of anti-Iraq/A-ghan press and public feeling on both sides of the altantic, yet soldiers, sailors and airmen will do their job regardless. There's an excellent example of how out of touch the general population are with the military "ethos" on this side of the atlantic over at PPrune at the mo - a Brit (who was informed late last year he would be going abroad at short notice for a tour of ops in wherever) being amazed that his friends were asking him why he hadn't just said "No". Some people just have no concept of what working in the military is all about... ::)
