I can hardly understand how they ever do it successfully... with a hose-and-basket setup, it's gotta be a beeyonch!!! And at night!?!?!

Tanker crew did very well, though- shut it off and retracted by the book, apparently. And at least that poor pilot didn't fall off station completely...

Not suprised. There'd have to be a weak link there somewhere for when things go wrong.

Not suprised. There'd have to be a weak link there somewhere for when things go wrong.
Quite correct, the refuel nozzle has a ring of shreer rivets just in case of a snag or hose whip.

And most of all, I'm quite sure I spot our tricolored flag on that plane.
