Good news Stalin and Hitler are dead as well

This means two of the worst examples of facial hair in history shouldn't make another appearance!

Wow guys, Im surprised! I was expecting to get flamed as being the only person in the world who doesnt want concorde to fly again (or at least doesnt think it ever will) but apparently Im not alone.
I just done understand the point. Why should a failure fly again? It was an amazing design, no doubting that, but it was a huge failure! We should focus our attention on airlines that really had an impact on commercial aviation, not ones that did something less than spectacular causing a very limited advance in the progression and growth of airlines and air travel in general.

Jake, I agree with you in that I don't think it will fly again, but wanting it to fly again is a different matter.
We've been through this before, but Concorde was not a failure. End of.

Although Concorde was a stunning design, and a wonderful aircraft, Doug has pretty much said it:
Concorde is dead. Forget it.
[EDIT: Whoops, missed out the second half of my post

] Cocncorde is dead - in commerical terms. However, it would be great to see it flying at airshows for instance....

Jake I mean no offense, but your not really up to date on how advanced concorde was it seems.
There are systems and various other parts that were designed for Concorde that are only recently being introduced to modern aircraft. It was 30 years ahead of its time, and for quite a long period was economically successful. How ever with the increase in oil prices, and the decrease in air travel because of various events around the world, it quickly dropped from that successful area, to being very unprofitable.
And unspectacular? I'd say flying people across the atlantic in 3 hours at twice the speed of sound is very spectacular.
The response from those here is one of those who know the fact it will never fly again so theres no point in getting their hopes up. Not one of them not wanting it too fly.

I am curious as to who this petition is going to?
Airbus as its them who produce the parts. Air france as they own the aircraft in Europe which could be used, or BA who have the only slightly workable airframe at Filton.
Airbus refuse to make parts for the aircraft as its too expensive without a full service. Air France will not fly Concorde again or allow one of theirs to fly again, they still are not over the crash in Paris.
BA cant fly the aircraft without the parts from Airbus. The Filton airframe is no longer under certification for flight and would require a large amount of work just to get it into airworthy certification state. If it were to ever have had a chance as a heritage aircraft it had to be done immediatly after its withdrawl from commercial service. The costs of keeping an airworthy aircraft are a lot less than getting one back to it.
It's never going to fly i'm afraid.

Jake, I'd be interested to know how you consider the Concorde to be a failure?
It was the first aircraft that brought supersonic flight to the public, something the big US companies couldn't (and still haven't for whatever reason) acheived. It was a beautiful design as well, a break from the usual boring buses we normally fly on. The aircraft had one accident, and it was used as an excuse by the penny pinchers at BA and AF to get rid of it from their budget.
I never said I didn't want it to fly again but if you look at it realistically it will NOT fly again, you can't fly an aircraft on hopes and dreams or any amount of support whether it be from a celebrity or a average Joe.

The crash was never used by BA as an excuse for dumping it. They desperatly wanted to keep it flying, and for numerous months gave Air France parts to keep theres flying in an attempt to convince EADS to keep supplying the parts. They put all that money into the saftey and comfort upgrades. They didn't do that with the intention of benching the plane only a couple of years later.
