Found this a minute ago:

The C-47 groaned, it protested, it rattled, it leaked oil, it ran hot, it ran cold, it ran rough, it staggered along on hot days and scared you half to death, its wings flexed and twisted in a horrifying manner, it sank back to earth with a great sigh of relief - but it flew and it flew and it flew.

Yes and it still flies better than a lot and is reliable a lot till today for those who care for history.

Another good one goes something like this...


"When the very last 747 is retired to the bone yard, the crew will be picked up and taken home aboard a DC-3"

Only cause it involves a DC-3

Actually I believe its also when the last C-5 is retired a C-47 will take the crew home.  Heck it coulda actually happened with the Starlifter
