Here's an interesting find.  I'd like to see some pics if they become available.

A fishing boat is not the best recovery vessel, although that was nice of them, I guess. Should be interesting...

From what I read in the article the fishing boat only dragged it into shallower water. The article also states that the tail is missing.

I know, but who knows what happened during that process; their sonar alone would not tell them if it was not snagged on anything or if the net was damaging it. You can't just pick up a corroded and waterlogged 60-year-old airplane any which way, obviously.
But of course, at 400 feet, to do it properly would be pretty damn expensive... they'd need a sub or ROV, as I doubt any sane diver would go to that extreme for some unknown Stuka.

I doubt anyone on Scuba kit could go lower than 250ft without being Superman. I think the option they have whilst not being the best is probably the best they have considering fiscal restraints....

It's possible to go deeper. But things don't get very pleasant. For very deep dives special suits are required.

Aye. Special suits and lots of help, including many tanks of gas.
The record is very deep indeed (really, really deep), but he wasn't after an old airplane- he was after the world record. ;)

Twelve hour ascent for decompression staging- and that's with basically no "bottom time"!!!!  :o
