Does anyone have a better 5 day forecast for OW on Sunday? I'd happily look at a different site if the weather is better  ::)

Anyone else thinking of going?

Wait 'til one or two days before. I guarantee you it'll have changed somewhat (although the forecast may still be rain).

Try MetCheck, too.

Unfortunately, also rain!

Is it a two day event, or only the Sunday? Because Saturday's forecast is much better.

;D

I was only kidding about the other forecasts, I know they can be a little optimistic (until the actual day usually  ::) )

It was more of a query about if anyone else was going  ;)

Take no notice of those long-range forecasts. They don't even know what it will be like today. ::)

I'll be there unless it's pouring with rain. As usual I won't make the decision until Sunday morning. You can see for yourself what it's like here. http://www.schools.bedfordshire.gov.uk/webcam/webcam.asp

No. The evening displays are usually on Saturdays.  This is the last OW display this season. http://www.tsgcs.co.uk/shuttleworth/main/eventsdetails1.asp?ID=51

No one can even begin to predict the weather more than three days in advance. Look again on Friday and pay careful attention to the forcast on saturday. Then finally get up at 5am sunday morning when the met office releases the updated forcast. ;D

What will the flying be like if the weather's poor Charlie? You must have been caught in the rain before ::)

Flying a modern military aircraft in the rain is very different to flying some of the delicate old machines in at OW I'd imagine...

As with most vintage airshows you'll probably find that bad weather will have a greater impact than it would at a more modern orientated show as the operators have to take more care with their aircraft. That said, I have heard of them flying the vintage stuff even in rain, it's high winds that will offer real problems (example being a recent show at OW where they grounded everything due to strong crosswinds). So a bit of light rain isn't all that bad as long as it isn't too bad visibility or windy! ;)

Either way, I wish you all the best and hope you get great weather! ;D

Some of the really old stuff may disappear, but the program does include things such as the JP, Mustang, Hurricane and some of the newer types, such as the Chipmunk.

Whichever way, as long as it's not torrential there should be a fairly decent show.

As I said, I'll be there. ;D

Ah well, I fulfilled my promise and went. Twas just a little bit damp! ;D But hey, it's Old Warden, the best little airfield in the world, the kind of place you don't need an air display to be able to soak up the atmosphere. Having said that, by the time I left we'd had the Anson, Provost, SU-29 (all very brave), and then (the braver) Tiggie, Maggies and Chippie, flour bombing and balloon popping! All in very marginal weather!

A good day though, met a few people I didn't expect to, and a few I did.

Roll on May! ;D

Indeed, well worth the first trip though, I thoroughly enjoyed it, even if I did spend part of the time sitting in our van in the rain watching Mary Poppins  ::)

Still, if it keeps the kids entertained  ;)
