I don't know if this was posted before but, it's new to me.  I've seen other video but, not this.  This happen in May of 2005 when a the pilot of a Cessna 525A Citationjet II treid to land at Bader Field ( KAIY ) in Atlantic City, New Jersey.  No one was seriously injured! :)

Pilot error, thankfully nobody was seriously hurt, but the cameraman needs to learn how to use a camera...

A finger on the starter switch ;D The intake was not in the water, no reasons why it should not start apart from the obvious ones that is ::)

I agree, but, why didn't he make an aborted landing?

Wow, there's really no way out of that one.  That dude shouldn't be flying jet aircraft, period, as far as I can tell.  The NTSB report seems to confirm this.

Having seen Bader Field, I would go around if I was about to land 2/3 down the runway in a Cub. The runway isn't exactly long, and the stuff at the end isnt exactly forgiving... ::)

Uhboy... ::)
This is probably one of the reasons they are closing Bader; nothing wrong with that airport, but this kind of thing is a perfect tool for airport-gobbling developers to get their way.

So many things wrong with that approach (downwind? In a jet? At Bader!?)... but at least he didn't try to horse it back into the air when he realized he was out of runway. Can't tell for sure, but it looks like he had control when it settled on the water. Whew- that could've been much worse.
The commentary is amusing: when the CJ's on final, the guy labels the pilot a "nutball", but then seems astonished that it ran off the end...anybody could tell that was not going to work: more than halfway down the runway and hotter'n'hell...

What the hell? Was he trying to taxi on water?

I thought business jets have to be flown with two pilots.

Several are one pilot certified, Citations (not sure if all are), Premier 1's etc.

That NTSB report makes the pilot look worse than the video.  Was that engine start actually intentional?  I'd hope the pilot had a little more respect for human life (those in the boats) than to start that engine when they were nearby.  I'd say that nobody is stupid enough to start and engine and try to taxi back to land, but I'm not so sure about this guy...

Well first of all jets are not suppose to be using Bader Field no matter what size they are.  Atlantic City Airport is only a short distance away and that is where he should have landed.  Second, runway 11 in which he made his attempt to land is a tricky one because you have 58 Ft sign you have to clear. It requires a 23:1 slope. I'm not a pilot so i'm not sure if that is that bad.  Third, No one was in the jet when the engines started up.  The pilot bailed out and never shut anything down so that jet was doing what ever it wanted.  I'm hoping this pilot lost his licence because he sure was an idiot to attempt to land there!! :-/
