Brooklands Museum

Anyone been to Brooklands lately?  I just checked their website and was excited to see what they've got in the way of early pioneer aircraft, then dismayed to see that few of them are intact and available for viewing.

Bleriot XI replica G-LOTI  1909  (public view, derelict or dismantled)
Curtiss D Pusher replica PFA 119-10717  1911 (public view)
Roe 1 Biplane replica BAPC 187 1908 (public view)
Santos-Dumont Demoiselle replica BAPC 194  1909 (public view, derelict or dismantled)
Santos-Dumont Demoiselle replica [bamboo construction]  1909 (public view, current restoration project)
Voisin Biplane scale replica G-BJHV 1908 (derelict or dismantled, stored)

That list is the only one on the website and is from 2002, I wondered if anyone knew what was currently viewable there?  It greatly saddens me to think there is a Voisin replica sitting in a shed somewhere, in pieces :'(

I can't remember specifically, but that list looks fairly accurate. I think the Pusher was in a period "shed" and I can't remember any other specifics from when I went earlier this year.

I've seen some of those on display at various air shows. The Camel was at Biggin Hill Air Fair earlier this season. Come to think of it I saw the Santos Dumont & Bleriot at Dunsfold (Wings & Wheels) last year.* They threatened to run the engines but I missed that. By coincidence I hope to be going to this year's event tomorrow. http://www.wingsandwheels.net/home.asp?fdv=1

*PS. I remember taking a couple of photos. I'll look them out.

I found an unofficial guide here. http://www.aeroflight.co.uk/mus/uk/brook/brooklands.htm
Last Revised: 6 August 2006.

The Curtiss D Pusher was sold by the owner to Kermit Weeks, Demoiselle BAPC.194 has been returned to the RAF Museum

That'd be what I saw at Brooklands then! ;D

So it appears the others aren't in storage, but more as travelling exhibits.
