Oshkosh "debriefing"

We left KOSU Friday at 1230Z after waiting about an hour for decent takeoff conditions. Twenty minutes into that flight I had to file IFR in-flight to get to the little Kenton airport ( I95 ). We sat there for THREE hours before scud-running into Lima where we had access to internet weather.
Didn't have to wait long for good weather and went on to our first scheduled fuel stop in Warsaw, Indiana (KASW). Setting up for a long, straight-in approach.. THE GOSH DARN GEAR would not come down :o
We spent ANOTHER three hours there getting it looked at. It turned out to be a leaking hydraulic fitting. The guy there was SO gracious and helpful.. Got us patched up and on our way.. But not until I got to play around in the cockpit of a Shorts.. (pics later in the photo forum).
All good weather from there around Chicago to Oshkosh.. and the tense, Ripon/Fiske approach went better than I had anticipated... UNTIL while turning final and already descending for 18R.. the tower asks quickly if I could make that 27.. No problem and it was actually pretty fun. I was lining up just as I rounded out and made an "OOH AHH" landing..
The shows and displays were every bit as good as I had hoped.. Truly a great experience. A couple weird storms blew through, but nothing serious.
The flight home was pretty uneventful, except for the takeoff.. When I was cleared for "immediate take-off" .. I didn't take the runway quite as fast as the tower was expecting.. and he had to urge me on a bit .. "Seven Mike Juliet, expidite for landing traffic" :-[
I did bust altitude on the way out. They want you to stay below 1300msl until west of the Delta airspace and I ended up doing a standard climb-out, but they didn't say anything, so I guess it was ok.. lol..
OK.. I'm still sorting through and resizing photos.. coming soon to a forum near you..
