You say it like that's a bad thing...

you want to try living on an army base for a short time.
Especially in summer where flying is 24/7 quite often.
While aircraft are great to see during the day, we were getting woken up at 3am by some trainee needing night experience, is not so good:)
A little weekend work never hurt anyone though.

Lol Trust me living 2 miles away from a military airbase has its downside
Eg: in the middle of the night having Planes and helicopters going on the approach just over the line of trees outside my bedroom window (rougly 100m away) its impossible to sleep :P

been there seen it did it for 14 years so I know your pain ;) :) Add in living right under the approach path to bristol airport for another 6, its now strange to get some peace and quiet at night.

I've noticed quite a lot of extra, military activity too. I took a c172 from KOSU to KMRT and while killing some time waiting on my turn at the pump... an Apache made two, low approaches.. a quick ston-and-go.. and then zoomed out of sight. I've also noticed the KC135s and what looks like F15s from Rickenabacker AFB (KLCK) are a lot more active in the MOA just south of Columbus, OH.

Hmmmm ?

It just goes to prove that aircraft activities are not everyones cup of tea... ;)...!

Most of my neighbours, and myself, love spotting the occasional Cessna 152/172 slowly and quietly chuffing overhead...
...but we all feel like throwing bricks at the many annoying military/civillian, low-flying helicopters which rattle our teeth at 500 feet AGL, and below!

I've got the words " Pi$$ Off! " mown on my lawn...
...but I fear that's encouraging them... >:(...!

LOL...!

Paul... ;D...!

Most military airfields have been there for a very long time. I imagine the base was there long before you moved in so there's not much point in complaining now. :P ;)

Moral: Check on this sort of thing before moving into your dream home.

As a rule, no, as people don't like working on weekends, just like civvies...

But it happens, if really necessary, and considering the extra forces that are reportedly off to Afghanistan...
