Just saw on the news that Southwest Airlines has ended thier open seating and are now assigning seats.

I also saw that Northwest airlines is changing to open seating. Thats very odd that they would change at the same time.

Northwest and Southwest.. maybe SWA will become NWA and reverse. :P

I read 2 articles on Southwest today...They are going to test assigned seating on routes out of San Diego for a bit and if they decide to do it they will start late 07 early 08.  According to the Houston Chronicle, theyve set up their website and software to handle assigned seating AND international flights!  Could we see Southwest in the Far East?

More likely Canada I'd think.  Perhaps the Carribean or Mexico?  I can't see them changing their business strategy THAT significantly.  Canada and other close international points though would fit well with their philosophy.
