American Airlines emergency

hey guys,
Has anyone heard about that American Airlines MD-82 that had a hydraulic failure in the right wing (i think), and had to emergency land at LAX? Well, that pilot is my neighbor! He'll be home in a few days, so I'll have to talk to him about it.

Seems like Amarican Airlines is having all kinds of problems at LAX.
4 days before the emergency landing they lost a 767 while doing a maintenance engine runup. The left engine caught fire and exploded sending shrapnel down several taxiways and damaging the right engine's tailcone. The fire was brought under control but that aircraft will never fly again.

You would be surprised at what flies again. One companies insurance write off is anothers deal of the century.
