At least not for me in the near future...
local place not too far from here had a person slip out of the harness when the shoot opened on a tandem jump. Needless to say not much was left :X

They slipped out of the harness? how do you slip out of a parachuting harness? I've worn one, and I can barely slip into it, let alone out. The straps gor under each arm and over the shoulder, around your waist, and between your legs. even the jerk of canopy deployment shouldn't be able to dislodge you. Either the thing was put on wrong, or something broke.

More recently two divers had their chutes tangle at 200 AGL, and one died. Bad week for skydiving.

That's horrible! EEsh... I've worn the parachute itself, not completely sure how the tandem harness works but I'd guess it wouldn't be much different... and those things are "snug".
I want to go skydiving soon. There is a school at the airport I work at that does jumps all day long. I couldn't even guess how many people they take up a week.
They got a new(er) 206 a month ago that still needs to come in for inspection and their Caravan has arrived for the summer season.

So i figured... but I wasn't taking you to task for it.
I say, if you still want to try it, do yourself a favor and avoid the media coverage... research the safety stats; they're probably pretty good.
I'm hoping to try it this season; I know of a great jump school with an excellent safety record.
