Mi-14 crashed near Sakhalin

Postby Ivan » Thu May 11, 2006 2:40 pm

Was on the news... Mi-14 (Naval Mi-8 with floats and sonar bulb) crashed at takeoff while doing rescue exercise.

Videos show that the blades hit a wave top while the aircraf was in the low part of the wave while trying to make a non-vertical takeoff

According to the news, the pilot died, but nothing said about the rest of the crew.

It was afloat at the moment the filming stopped, but turned upside down

The news report I saw listed the pilot as the only casualty, all other crew members exited the bird.
