Look at this great archive film on this site of London Airport (Heathrow) early days complete with tents as terminals (I remember them).

Good find... was nice to sit back and just watch.  And as I did I was thinking to myself "Gee, our scenery is more realistic than theirs!"  :D

Vololiberista, thats really cool. There's some great aircraft featured in the film too. I'm sure I spotted the civil versions of the Avro Lancaster and the Handley Page Halifax in there!

If this stuff excites you all, I have a videos for sale about british air travel that has a lot of info on Heathrow from when it was first layed out in 1946 to present day.

I'd love to find something similar about good old Newark Airport (the American one... )... hard to believe that at one time it was just a big circle of cinders and grass.
World's first control tower, paved runway, lighted runway, and first passenger terminal, if what I"ve heard is true.
