Yes, there are exterior shots at the end.. others arriving as this crew taxis. Not your typical heavy approach, for sure... note the very relaxed Italian(?) crew... smoking, etc. Some good flying there.

I guess they had tailwind on the baseleg which threw them off their intended course ???

I've seen that in clips from Kai Tak before... crosswinds are a problem there.
But to me, the biggest challenge seems to be turning that tight corner with a 747... it'll do it, but it takes some room... :o

I'm assuming either an inexperienced crew (at flying that particular approach) or, as you said, unusual winds, becuase they were really off.

And the vid was terribly shot, absolutely awful, as Dave said. Still a good find Rotty

In this case it was an MD11, though. Not that it really matters both planes are very long and the MD11 isn't really the most longitudinal stable aircraft to boot; It has a computer, LSAS, which makes tiny corrections to keep the aircraft's pitch stable. Kind of like a yaw damper for the pitch axis.

Tell me again why I know these useless facts?Sometimes I think I have to slap myself....

The other planes shown are 747s... I was aware that the cockpitt shown was not (even though it's labelled as such), but didn't know which. Leave it to somebody else to figure out what it was...

Would LSAS really be active on that kind of approach?
