Well the EU has banned 93 airlines as unsafe. The list hasn't been published yet! I know N. Korean airlines and a number of African ones are on the list... I wonder who else?

I read something about this the other day ....... It's been well trumpeted.

expect lots of airlines from Congo, no big surprises here.

Sorry Kris I sometimes forget the Hungarian news services are so far behind the rest of the world you can only just about spot them using the Hubble telescope

Both I think ......... It's all down to safety issues rather than terrorism. You can expect more to be added as aircraft are inspected at EU airports.

Ariana... probably the A300s not the new fleet (A310 and upcoming B738W and 757)
Air Universal... if the UN or NATO wants a cheap flight they GET a cheap flight. No matter what the EU says.

Onur Hava Yollari is already in fleet renewal process, and putting them on the list wouldnt have made friends up there

I've read in the paper that airlines flying old aircraft were banned. If an airline follows safety rules and maintains aircraft properly but operates old 727 or 732 are they banned?

I like this anet cockpit picture of one of the airlines that was banned - 3 different throttle settings yet all the engine gauges show the same readings.

It's a strange world out there. African International is on the list, but only their Swaziland registered plane. The ones registered in South-Africa are safe, though it's the same compagny... strange...

Maybe in South Africa they have to follow safety regulations.

Omag, I believe to stay off this list your aircraft must be registered with one of the major flight safety boards in their home country and as such must be certified safe to fly. CAA, FAA and so on.  

Ariana only got on the list because the CAA can't guarantee the maitnance on any YA regged planes. So they got themselves a leased A310 instead

No, however they are generally not compliant with modern day noise regulations, hence you tend not to see them...
