Anyone else heard of this? Rumor has it that a new airport is being built south of Tampa, FL, around Naples that will be the world's largest airport. They say it will be a hub to take most of the international traffic from Miami and Tampa. Apparently, 100k acres has been purchased for this project.

Wasn't that idea behind Dade-Collier which turned out to be a major failure? I think they even called it the Florida International Airport at one point.

If they bought 100k arces that means the airport will be in the middle of no where, I can't imagine many airlines would be interested in that, but I've been wrong before.

Dade-Collier was built to handle U.S. SST traffic into Miami; but we never built the plane. It was built in the middle of nowhere so no one would complain about sonic booms.

Once the airport is built.. people will buy land and build everything..

Fast-Food, Hotels, Motels, Rent-a-cars, golf courses, houses. EVERYTHING will move around there.
