Historical Commander

One of the Central Air pilots that flies into AAO told us that one of their Commanders was once owned by Howard Hughes.  Hughes would often fly the commander around Las Vegas ignoring all ATC, and basically just sight seeing.

Last week, this plane was wrecked in Wisconsin (?) when the plane was on final about 3 miles out from the runway.  The throttle was at 50% power, and the plane had plenty of fuel.

Rockwell Aero Commander.

Very little was known about Hughes in the time he bought the plane, so its no wonder that we know even less about it
