unknown aircraft (to me)

Postby pengyman89 » Fri Oct 21, 2005 5:48 pm

Hello all,
I saw a passenger aircraft the other day and had no clue what it was. I don't remember it overly clearly because it was moving at a fair pace.
It wasn't very large, about the size of a Cessna Citation, and in fact i could have almost said it was a Citation except for two small winglet thingies (excuse my aeronautical terms) on the fron of the fuesalage (similar to some fighters). The engine produced a much higher pitched whine than i was accustomed to which is what first caught my attention. It had two engines on either side of the fuesalage, behind the wings. There was no recognizable paint scheme to it, i don't remember about the tail, but the fuesalage was all white. The aircraft looked fairly new.

Thats about all the information i could really give someone. If i saw a picture i would probably remember it. I believe it was landing at one of the local airports, probably CYOW here in Ottawa, Ontario. I couldn't say for sure what airport.

I can try and scrounge up some more information if you need it but thats about all i can give you. If anyone can tell me my mystery plane i would greatly appreciate it as its driving me nuts. It was a fairly odd aircraft compared to the norm around here (A320's, Boeings, and a lot of small Cessna's and Piper's)

Thanks everyone

AHH, the Piaggio P-180, thats it! Thanks a lot Craig, it was such an odd bird that i had to know what it was. A very distinct sound to it and it does fly quite beautifully. I hope to have many first encounters like this one in the future.

Thanks again :D
