Memphis Belle

Just seen the sad news over at Just Flight that the final member of "Memphis Belle's" crew, Sgt Robert Hanson passed away at the weekend.

Sad news, but he lasted a lot longer than many other B-17 crew members...

Sad news indeed. :( I remember meeting the pilot at an airshow a while back. Nice fellow.

Unfortunately, this is an ever persisting fact of life we are running into. It is a sad day when the heros that built the freedom we enjoy today, are not able to enjoy the hard work anymore. Being ex military myself and having done active tours, I make it my duty now to educate children today on the importance of the sacrifice they made. I for one will never let them forget.

I will forever live in the sunlight of their bravery.
