Posted: Tue Sep 27, 2005 7:24 amAs I approach the Atlantic City Class C airspace, I decide to give the controllers and myself a break and drop it down to 1200 to slide underneath, over the beach. I'll monitor the Bader Field CTAF on the way...
Atlantic City. Haven't been here in a while... not a peep out of Bader, but as i switch to 26N's CTAF, I can hear a few pilots there.
26N is just out of this picture to the left (shooting blind, remember?); it's on the bay side, just past that bridge in the left foreground. As soon as I call my radio check, someone gives me an advisory without my having to ask. Glad he did, because I forgot to check the AFD on this place, and they use a right-hand traffic pattern for 24...
My landing? Weeelll... final leg is much better than last time; more like my old self, but the flare still needs a little work. Better overall, but not the best I've done.
On the ramp at Ocean City... again, as I was clearing the runway, the fellow on the Unicom mic was very helpful: "Just park anywhere except the spots with the orange cones...". This is a nice little airport, with a pretty large ramp. the building shown houses a pilot shop and a small restaurant, and the beach is just a few blocks away. It's already almost 1300, and for some reason I'm thinking that someone is due to take 715 from me at 1400, so i decide to forgo lunch here... stupid me, I should've just called Millstone. But whatever. I also have a feeling that the clouds are building back north near 47N... probably best to make it short and sweet here.
After hitting the head and grabbing a quick bagel and some juice, I blast off to the north. The light tailwind is a disappointment... looks like I'll be a little late.
I decide to cut the corner between Barnegat and Monmouth Executive, to save a little time. My landing at 47N is a little better than the first; I'm getting there...
