Here comes Monmouth Executive (BLM), right on schedule...

Image

And soon I see the inlet at Point Pleasant, with the Atlantic beyond. time to turn south...

Just happened to look over the side as I passed these amusement piers...

Well I'll be... it's that darn Fuji blimp, dawdling along over the surf. Problem with these blind shots with an autofucus camera is that it sometimes focusses on the strut or whatever, instead of the subject... oh well... ;D

Next: Atlantic City and 26N!

That's where you have a classic rangefinder for. YOU decide what will be sharp, not the software.

Yep, it's annoying... but I'd forgotten that this camera allows you to narrow the area of the image that the autofocus works with, and for long shots like that, I can set the AF for "accesory lens" which effectively kills the AF with no accesory lens attached.
Next time... ;D
Either way, I wouldn't want to be using my old SLR on these solo flights- don't want to be squinting through a viewfinder when I should be scanning for traffic.

Looks like it's right over the water, don't it? Those waves are breaking early and are not as big as they look, but I guess if the wind is coming off the water you might get a little spray... ;D

Damn! I thought you took a shot of a dead whale floating in the water, until I read it was a Fuji blimp!

;D

Nice shots!

LOL... I tell ya, at first glance, I didn't know what the heck it was... didn't see any balloons or dust-devils this time, but somebody did pass me haulin' ass the other way by Atlantic city- would've made a great shot, but I had turned off the camera.
