BFR... complete!!

Took the morning off today to go flying... I like the sound of that... ;D
Flew the second part of my long-overdue BFR out of 47N with a landing at nearby N51; much better weather and much better performance by yours truly. Still tending to be a bit high on final, but that'll pass. The bottom line is that I'm now permitted to rent there, so I've booked a coupla hours in the 172 for next Sunday. Gonna probably do some pattern work, but maybe if the weather's fine I'll go someplace else and do a few landings there. That will be my first solo flight since May of 2001 (can't believe it's been that long!! :o)!!
The CFI took some inflight pix with his camera; promised to email some to me. But I have a couple from afterwards; if curious check them out in the Photos forum.

...and I thought my 2 year gap was long! ;D :)

Ah well, it's a nice feeling to go off solo again! :)

Not really... just wanted to be comforable (very hot day that first time), and a T-shirt would've shown the sweat too much... :D !

LOL- well, the important thing is to be able to get it in regardless, and I manage that OK. I think it's just a habit from flying a lot at two airports in the area with obstructions that dictate a fairly steep approach; also a little "shyness" I guess- don't want to be too low on final, that's for sure. Anyway, I'll get it together soon, with a little practice.
:)

Very funny... maybe you shouldn't have told me where you're going Sunday...!  ;) ;D
Seriously, I take great pride in my CTAF announcing and general pattern manners.
Not like some people I've seen around these small fields... ::)

Some of those "fogies" have probably never seen a towered field in their lives

There's more than a few planes that don't have a radio around our airport.

Gliders for example ... ultralights and a few Aeroncas.  ;D

God bless 'em, and can't blame them for avoiding controlled fields; I did about half my training at KTEB and got my fill of that pretty quickly. Good experience, though...

So I've heard... I'm used to it, having flown out of N07. There's even a Moth based there, or at least there used to be. Lots of ultralights at 2N8, too.
I don't mind sharing the pattern with "deaf and mute" pilots, as long as they're compensating as they should by being aware of what's going on. I'll never forget an impromptu game of "chicken" I got into while landing at Stroudsberg once... guy came straight-in on the opposite heading, and although I was lower, he went ahead and flared just past me as I was rolling out. I'm sure he felt confident he could safely pull it off, but what if I'd screwed up with a desperate, sudden go-around or something like that? I didn't even see him until I was about to flare, as I was focused on the end of the runway, and never saw him barreling in when I was higher. Glad I decided not to go around...
Damned "Sky Kings!"  ::)
But in his foolishness, he taught me to expect the unexpected, even on final...
;D

I did a bit of training at Teterboro. I plan to NEVER go back there EVER AGAIN if I can help it.

Waiting 40 minutes on the ground wasting precious hobbs time while 11 jets take off in front of you non-stop is not my definition of a fun aviation day.

I had to do a go-around because of a non-radio airplane last weekend. Another first :). I didn't really mind, but I just think it would be nice if everyone had a radio.
