Two GAs (type unknown) from here in Hungary have crashed whilst flying through a storm in Croatia, they hit different hills at about the same time. This is not a good summer to fly....

I remember, as I'm sure many here do, a few years back when it seemed that a historic aircraft was going down almost every week. Bad times and sad to see so many crashes and such loss of life.

Flying through a storm in a light aircraft (I assume by GA you mean general aviation or light aircraft) is unwise any place, any time of year. Were they really flying through a storm? On purpose?

The storm came in-land rather faster than expected so the two planes were caught short.
In all 12 people dead, the pilots of both planes were experienced and instrument rated (one was also an instructor pilot at a flight school).
They still won't say what types of planes though, one had 8 people on board the other 4.....

That's too bad... goes to show, even if current on instruments, you don't have much of a chance tangling with a thunderstorm. :-/
