I was recently at an Airshow taking pictures and just having a good time when I litterally bumped into a guy while checking out a C-5 Galaxy.  I appologized and not more than a minute or two later we were chatting it up like old chums.

Well it turns out that this really nice guy was none other than Jim Tucker!  I couldn't beleive I was talking with the hero of Fedex flight 705!  He is just a warm, intuitive and nice individual.

We talked for 30-45 minutes, and I asked him why he wasn't bitter (though he had every right to be) about
losing his professional flying carreer.  He just looked at me and said it was faith in God, and family.  He also is happy he has more time to spend with them.

What a great guy!  He doesn't really keep in touch with the others who were on flight 705 anymore, but last he heard they were both doing fine.  I changed the subject to some of the aircraft in the airshow, which I was surprised to find out that he had great knowledge of...especially the A-4.

We left with a handshake and well-wishes for the future.

For those of you who don't know who Jim is, or flight 705, here is what happend on flight 705.

Whoa! I don't think I ever heard about this.. horrible. Kudos to Tucker; he's one tough hombre.
Amazing that although that FE couldn't figure out a way to continue living despite his problems, he came up with this elaborate plan to kill himself in such a roundabout way. And why he felt it necessary to take the others with him (and who knows how many on the ground?) is anybody's guess... :P

Whoa I've never heard about this so I read about it on URL that bschott gave. And I have to say that is one horrific story. It's sad how one person can ruin three peoples lives in such a short amount of time

Sadly this guy was more than a disgruntled employee and i dont know just how bad his mental problems are. They said he could have gotten gun onboard without any hassle, in a way its good he didnt go the easy route because then chances are he would have suceeded. Instead he chose the option which was to make those in the cockpit suffer which thankfully gave the crew a chance to save the lives of all those on the ground. An amazing story every time i read it. Those guys did a geat job despite the injuries they suffered.
