They say that the airport, which is used by about 300,000 passengers a year, is crucial for business and tourism and the JCA could bring 1,000 civilian and 3,000 RAF jobs.

Mayor of Bodmin, Lance Kennedy, said: "All the six towns will be affected. Newquay and St Columb will be most affected and it will ripple out from there."

Strange. I stumbled across this on Google about 1 hour ago. As you say, it's pathetic.

Now, I know nothing about the RAF, and this is the first I've heard of the JCA. But it seems to me that if this new aircraft will bring jobs to the area, then everyone should be all for it. If they are worried about it restricting the amount of civilian/commercial operations, then why not compromise? build a dedicated runway shortly before the new plane is schedualed to arrive. Civilian flights might still be restricted somewhat, but not as much.

the JCA is i am assuming their name for the JSF. as for this row, too bad for those who are getting upset. They offer to buy the land then maybe they can do as they like.

Joint Combat Aircraft is the (current) British name for the Joint Strike Fighter. I presume this is for political reasons and to remove the word "Strike", which could be perceived to be overly agressive...

then why dont we just call it "project rosebud"
