I'm amazed no one has posted anything about the fact that the UK's Apache Helicopters have finally become operational.
It was officially declared yesterday.

And as a side note 4 of them flew over my truck today whilst I was driving back from Staffordshire.

ey in subject.

Baddest-ass chopper on the planet.  Suckers fly by my house every day (directly over it), and all the windows shake.  It's awesome.

Glad to hear UK has em now.  Are they fitted with operational tea cup holders?

What base do you live by? It can't be McGuire AFB or Willow Grove NAS.. Fort Dix?

Craig n Charlie will be able to give you more information ...... but the weapons systems and avionics have been upgraded from the U.S. spec.

Yes, and we've done away with the gunners seat. The pilot operates the flying controls and the weapons, whilst a graduate of the JCA* sits in the front operating the panel mounted microwave and food blender, which is then passed to the pilot, so he can shoot tanks and eat his pasty simultaneously. Multi tasking at its best...

So the rumours are true? And what about the kettle? is it just a myth or could it be true? ;D

Actually, it is Willow Grove NAS.  I live northwest of Philly, and Willow Grove is just north.  Any area to the north or west (or inbetween ;)) is used as their practice area.  We get A-10s, C-130s, UH-60s, UH-1s, CH-53s, AH-1s, it goes on and on.  And, obviously, AH-64s.

Better than ours, eh?  Chances are if you guys are upgrading something of yours, we'll get around to it... a few years down the road :P.  But the current one is getting the job done.  Did you guys get the Longbow?

And glad to hear the tea is being made by people who know what they're doing.  We might need to implement something of the sort, perhaps for hot chocolate.

Yes its the longbow.
Not a fan of the apache. Its to slow really. Much prefer the lynx which does the tank busting job but also doubles as transport and is faster.

There's some thing far far far more interesting at Wattisham at the moment than Merlins and Apaches...

Did you see that at all?
