Sunglasses

I was just wondering if there are some sunglasses that are better than others for pilots.  I'm doing my training out of Merrill Field here in Anchorage, and everytime I come back from the practice area, inbound for Merrill... the sun is shining right into my eyes!  I think it's about time I invest in a good pair.

i personally have a pair of ray bans. But those are expensive and i am sure you can get a pair that does just about as good a job for alot less. just look for 100% uv filter.

Bottom line is UV filtering, but for the record, I started with Ray-Bans, then tried Randolphs. Need a new pair, and will probably go back to Ray-Bans. the basic aviators aren't too pricey (I got mine on sale, I think- less than $50). They're both good, but I found Ray-Bans more to my liking.
Whatever you do, do not fly with cheap shades. What you're looking for is better definition in glare, not just a darker view.

Also, try to fly with shades that have a neutral gray color, and are not too dark.

Basically, what this means is you're going to need an expensive pair for them to be really effective, since you want a lighter shade but more protection from the sun.  I have Oakleys meself.
