R.A.F. SE-2?

Nope.

A challenge it is, since it looks like several aircraft, and it seems to me I've seen that plane somewhere...

I not positive, but that tail just seems to scream Moraine Saulnier to me...

Which is exactly what it isn't.

In my mind it looks quite German. And the nose looks very much like that of the Albatross.

Ok folks, i'll give you a clue. It is British. And was one of the first aircraft to use flaps.

I want to say it's an R.A.F. S.E.4 (unlike the later SE4a that had a more "conventional" appearance.

If you wanted to say that then I could say that you are absolutely correct. Well done.  8)

I got thrown off because THAT (the SE4) was the plane I was thinking of when I said SE2.  But I'll be darned if I could come up with a photo of the SE4 - I can come up with the SE2, SE4a, etc. ... but I KNOW I've seen the SE4 somewhere..
