Your One and Only Love

Postby Scorpiоn » Fri Oct 08, 2004 12:08 am

If you could have one, and only one aircraft to own and fly in the real world (2004 Not 1916, 1943, 1990 etc.) with all expenses paid, what would it be?

I have to go with the Ju 87 V1: looks good from every angle. 8) Although, honestly, I'm not sure if I'd go fo the radiator bath adjustments or not.  Good for low and slow flying, and plus, you can have your Maam tag along for the ride in the back!  Wait...

PS: The point of this is to not get these lists going, (Military fighter, comercial cargo, heli, firefighting, etc....)

This is a difficult question to answer as I have many favourite types. If it comes down to the one I could get the most fun out of I would have to go for the DH.82a Tiger Moth.

PS. I don't understand this.

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Mmm, this is a hard one. It's a choice; 1) Gloster Gladiator, 2) VS Spitfire V, 3) Hawker Hunter. Very hard indeed.

(pregnant pause....)

Decided, Gladiator... :)

I'd have a tough choice between the Gauntlet, Gladiator and Nimrod ...

The Gladiator would win for me purely 'cos the canopy would keep me warm and dry... :)

Ahhh - but most of the time they were flown with open canopies to keep the fumes out  !!!

The Gauntlet is the better performer, but the Gladiator is a bit more brutish looking...

Maybe for practical fun, I'd go with the Miles Aerovan  :)

No, good Sir Hagar, I wouldn't dream of enraging the seniors!  God forbid they find me alone with their cane! Image

I only meant this to enforce the answer:
  • I'd like to own and fly...
And to prevent the answer:
  • Well, if I was a pilot in World War II, Korea etc. I'd like to fly...

These are always fun topics, but someone posts three favorites, then, five, then a list, and before long, theres an entire block of "your favorite aircrafts". ::) I too like multiple aircrafts (A6M, F4U, Ju. 87), but I thought about it a bit (the point of this topic), and narrowed it down (Ju. 87).

Maybe you saw the reason within all that blather.  I tend to be overly bombastic. ;)

The 737NG...I won't need a copilot to fly one so that's the advantage  ;D...I'd need 2 more if I wanted the TriStar  8)

It's small enough to be cute, and it is a great performer that requires attention from the pilot.

Difficult. Very, very difficult....

I suppose I would go for a Reid and Sigrist Snargasher. It wouldn't be a particular head turner but it would be something special.

I would go with the B-29, a very rare and unique aircraft with some performance capabilites, whil ebeing able to take the whole family along! :-) With the added bonus ofd being able to open the bomb bay doors and say see ya, when they are me if we are there yet! :-)

Well I guess I would still have to go with the deHavilland of Canada DHC-3 "Otter" and on amphibious floats :).

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug
