Nice find.

THe principle shown is the same for any "combustion turbine" whether for aviation or industrial applications.  The differences lie in the materials used, combustion system (anular vs cans or a single can) etc.  Aviation and aero-derivatives are usually dual or triple spools, industrials are single spool....

Well that page pretty much sums up the entire book I've read about aircraft jet engines (Turbine pilots guide ~ 260 pages + CD ROM)...lol  ::)

I want my money back  ;D

The Trent, depicted in the movie is a triple spool I believe? Very typical RR. The advantage of triple spools are plenty. They are easier to build and maintain  but  in particular easier to start since only one spool needs to be turned by the starter.

Too bad they did not have a similar video of the RB211, my all time fave jet-engine....  :)
