737 intercept in dutch airspace

Postby Ivan » Sat May 01, 2004 5:47 pm

A 737 was intercepted by 2 F-16's today. No info about the airline involved, but LOTS of people complaining about the sonic booms...

No more info... the F-16's returned home after the 737 was escorted out of the dutch airspace.

Apparently no big deal, as it isn't on the national news one day after it happended.

Possibly Air Europe, route from Bergen (Norway) to somewheren in southern Spain.

It was followed until it was above Brussels. 2 ship F-16 flight was sent from Leeuwarden AB for intercept

Thanks Ivan, I had to dust of the old Dutch/English dictionary, but it was good practice. I was surprised how many words I could remember :o
I think I need to find some Dutch people to practice on around town, as I was better at speaking than reading :D

with the news in the papers now it's still a little vague.

seems to me the pilot was dozing or so, as he decided to contact ATC after the fighters were on his tail for 20 minutes or so

For those of us who are lazy, or just can't speak Dutch, here's the BabelFish translation:

Two f-16 fighters of the royal air power its Saturday afternoon (1 May) around two hours of the fly basis lion ears taken off to intercept a plane above the Netherlands. The movement plane of the type boeing 737 had appeared on the radar and flew from north to south, but satisfied to the movement control rules. Two F-16's vervolgens under accompaniment of a fighting LEADER of the air Operations and Control station new Milligen has been sent away immediately on the toestel identify the toestel and contact to make with the crew. After it had been put certain that there was nothing to the hand and the Dutch airspace had left the toestel F-16's has returned to the thuisbasis the lion ears. F-16's with a speed of than thousand km/h the movement plane more has approached and thereby by the sound barrier has gone. This has possibly conducted possibly local to some questions and nuisance. For the maintaining of the airspace above the Netherlands stand 24 hours per day, 7 days per week F-16's ready for these Quick Reaction alert (Qra)-taak. at a report of an unknown plane in the Dutch airspace are F-16's within some minutes in air intercept the plane.
