What is the fastest single engine prop made? I have asked at the local airport but came up with nothing but personal preferances.  :-[

Do you mean GA or military? I think the Hawker Sea Fury & Grumman Bearcat fall into this category.

According to this the fastest single-engined GA prop is the Mooney Ovation2 GX or Bravo GX. ::)

PS.
The Mooney Ovation2 is the culmination of taking an award winning airframe/engine combination and making it better. Its Performance/Value equation is absolutely unequaled in today's general aviation market. It quite candidly is the fastest single engine, normally aspirated, piston powered aircraft available today.

The fastest propellor driven, single engine aircraft was the XFY-1 Pogo at 982 Km/H.

For a more conventional A/C the record holder is Lyle Shelton's "Rare Bear" (F8F) at 850 Km/H.

I was thinking a Mooney, but the guys just laughed and said I was nuts, they kept saying a Lear, but I couldn't get the point that I was curious about props not jets!
I was more curious about GA aircraft but Military is good too know also ! I find that while talking with these guys I need as much proof as possible, they aren't the brightest stars in the sky  ;D ;D
