Newbee Question!

Ok this may seem very simple to ya'll but im not an expert so here goes! Ever since i was young ive looked up at planes if i hear them or see them all of my freinds think im strange but ive got one question..............It is visible on all planes on a clear day to haw may engines they hav judgin by the contrails so how come i can see planes with one single contrail coming from the back a fair bit behind the plane? Any help appreciatied!

The contrails form individually, as they're left behind, the cloud expands and merges.

How high does the plane have to be on an average day? I am thinking of FS2002.

30,000 feet on an average day, maybe 32,000.
