Christmas Quiz - Part 1

Postby C » Thu Dec 11, 2003 6:20 pm

Here's a quick quiz for Christmas, in several parts over the next few days. These are the first 10 easy questions to get started, answers probably on saturday evening (you should have got 'em all by then)...

1.      Which famous long distance air race started at RAF Mildenhall in 1934?
2.      What type of aeroplane won the race?
3.      What type of aeroplane came second?
4.      How many aircraft flew in the first Red Arrows display in 1965?
5.      Name the test pilot killed flying the Prototype DH110 at Farnborough in 1952?
6.      How many engines has an Antonov An-225?
7.      What is the SBAC?
8.      Which ten-turboprop, Isle of Wight built seaplane made its maiden flight in 1952?
9.      At which Airshow did a Tu-144 crash in 1973?
10.      Radlett airfield was operated by which aircraft manufacturer?

Very close. only q4 remains unanswered. Anybody got the name for Q1 and the operator of the DC-2 in Q3 for a couple of bonus points...
