New A380 and 7E7

Postby JVC_systems » Tue Nov 25, 2003 4:03 pm

Hello,
I was reading a lot about A380 and 7E7 which are coming out very soon and was just wondering, a few years ago when A380 was first anounced it was at first called A3XX which now stands for A380 and now Boeing is making it's new 7E7 and I don't really know what it is going to be called? Is it permenantly going to be called 7E7 or is it going to be something like 787? or 797? Also once A380 is in services, is it going to replace Boeing 747-400 or 747-400ER which is quite new? Thanks.

there are currently a few options for the 7E7,
1:Remain as 7E7(most popular option right now)
2:787(to continue the line of numbers 757 767 777 787)
3:808(since this is a totally new aircraft they are thinking a new begining in number history)

bare in mind that its name is dreamliner, so you could be hearing over the ATC airwaves "you are on finals following a 7E7 dreamliner, 787 Dreamliner or 808 Dreamliner".
now after a while most ATC will drop dreamliner if ever use it. Hopefully

I don't think that the A380 will "replace" the 747 series completely.  In some airlines, especially European, yes.  In the end, it's economics and marketing.

One possibility is that the A380 might just be too big for some airports to handle, so you'll still have a 747.

Carig...
the zero in the middle is patented by Peugeot.

Do you know what a Porche 901 is.... a 911, as peugeot sued them for using the zero in the middle

Intersting facts you guys mentioned. I personally think that 808 would probably be the best for it since it is a new aircraft . What are your oponions?

meh, 808 really doesnt fit the Aircraft, and with the A380 coming out, i think the number 8 should be avoided:)
7E7 should stick, in my opinion

Because of the Peugot "connection"  I don't think that Boeing would use the "808" purely from a marketing point of view.

As to the Porsche 901 -... I don't know about that, since one of the successful Porsches of the early '60s was the model 908.

I do remember that Mercedes Wankel prototype was first called the C-101, but because of Peugot's "claim" it was changed to C-111.

Hi Guys,

I am not really confident about those giant airplanes. The market seems to go with smaller airplane like CRJ.
I think also, even if those airplanes are almost built, that is gonna take a lot of time to fly with them. But it is just my opinion.

                           Cheers

I personally think that 7E7 isn't the best name for their new aircraft. It is sort of incomplete I think. It would be nicer if they put 808 or 787 but if they prefer to avoid "808" then the best would be 787. 7E7 just feels incomplete to me. I don't know about others thought  ;) BTW, who is going to be the first customer to purchase the new 7E7 and A380. Qantas was the first to purchase B747-400ER last year  ;) Maybe they will purchase an A380?

the asian market will likely be the first to see the 7E7 in full service as its best suited there. no customers are even rumored right now but early next year we shall know.

I have been in CRJ. Well the flight was only 2 hours so it wasn't that long hehe. Can't imagine sitting in that jet for 12 hours. too small  ::) But I would refuse to ither  ;)

Btw, do you think United or British Airways, Air Canada  are going to purchase any 7E7's? Would love to see those fly here in North America  :)

Forgot, same goes for A380. Any North American or European airlines to order and fly A380?
